STRONG PERFORMANCE AT A LEVEL FROM LEA VALLEY AS MAJORITY OF STUDENTS HEAD TO UNIVERSITY

100% pass rate in Economics, English Literature, Maths, Further Maths, Psychology, Dance, Drama and Religious Studies

Lea Valley secured an impressive 87% overall pass rate at A Level, including the new format A Levels with 10% of students achieving the highest A*-A grades.

Students from the Sixth Form were thrilled to have secured places at prestigious Russell Group universities such as UCL, Kings College London and Queen Mary and Manchester.

The school in Enfield which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and has seen major improvements in recent years, celebrated the achievements of its Sixth Form students today.

A Level highlights for Lea Valley include:

·       82% A-C grades in Maths with 36% of students achieving high A*/A grades

·       All English Literature students passed with 22% achieving high A*-B grades

·       50% of all grades in Psychology were A or B grades

Top achiever Bayse, who was awarded A*, A and B grades in English Literature, History and RE said of her time at Lea Valley, “The school has provided me with so many opportunities. They open not one door but hundreds and that’s down to the amazing teachers that go out of their way to help.”

 

The school’s Year 12 students also performed well with 64% of students achieving high A-C grades in Maths or Further Maths, setting themselves up for A Level success in 2018.

Caner is looking forward to starting his Physics degree at Kings College London following an A, B and C in Maths, Physics and Chemistry.  His advice is to work hard and surround yourself with like-minded friends who motivate you to succeed.

 

 

Head of School, Stephanie Gibson spoke proudly of the results achieved today; “Our students have worked exceptionally hard and as such deserve the rewards and recognitions placed upon them.  We wish them every success in the future.  I’d also like to thank the staff at Lea Valley for all their hard work and dedication and for continually going above and beyond to ensure our students be the best that they can be.”

Janet Cullen, Executive Principal, expressed her pride at the many high achievements of the students and thanked the staff for their commitment to supporting students to succeed.
